MAYBE A DUMB QUESTION

by LS1SMURF on May 13, 09 12:48 AM
So i dont own a evo, but you guys are probably the best to talk to, i have a 1997 GS-T eclipse, now for the dumb ?, i put an aftermarket turbo on it and now my exhaust wont fit on the new 02 sensor housing, will i blow the motor or turbo if i run it with no exhaust or should i just leave it parked until my new one comes in?

so what your saying is that its basically o2 housing and then it dumps from there? don't think any harm would be done but it's going to be loud as hell. you'll also have no back pressure and you'll be blowin exhaust all over your motor. I might not be 100% on this, but waiting for the exhaust wouldn't hurt

ya I'd wait for the exhaust. Not going to hurt anything at all, but it would be the proper thing to do if you can wait to get the right downpipe.

Wont really hurt anything... our engines dont need "backpressure" as it is mostly a myth for any car. Especially when it comes to computer controlled engines. The only thing you have to worry about is running lean which will blow your engine. If you run without an 02 back... it will be so loud you cannot function, not to mention if you have any unburned fuel in your exhaust, you run the risk of lighting your car on fire like a roman candle. Ever see a car blowing a fireball out the tailpipe? Imagine that in your engine compartment... right next to your fuel. Not a good idea.... not to mention illegal on so many levels.

So keep it stock or whatever till you have all the parts. Its safer that way and cheaper.
